۱۸۹۳ (circa)

West Pawlet

Description

Harp awarded first prize at the World’s Fair, Chicago, 1893. The competition at the World Fair included both the making and playing of a Welsh triple harp. Tom Lloyd Tom A. Lloyd (1858-1917) (who used the bardic name ‘Telynor Ceiriog’ – ‘Harpist of Ceiriog’) was well-known as a harp player and tutor. He taught the renowned 20th century triple-harpist Nansi Richards Jones. He was a native of the former slate-quarrying village of Llangynog, in Montgomeryshire, mid-Wales. He was buried at the nearby church of Pennant Melangell, but spent a good deal of his life in Pennsylvania, and clearly he lived in West Pawlet, Vermont, in 1893
